All Things Eucalyptus
Ever come across the term Eucalyptus and not really know much about it except for its rather fancy name? Well, don’t worry, because we got you.
Eucalyptus is actually a type of tree, of which the leaves, mind you, have an entire list of benefits! It originates from the land 'down under', and just by walking through the streets of Australia, one can be filled with its aroma.
On top of its amazing scent, there are SO MANY different varieties of the plant that hail from SO MANY different countries worldwide. For example, the Blue Gum from Portugal, Spain and China, and the popular Radiata which is also known as ‘narrow-leafed peppermint-gum’.

Eucalyptus goodness is usually extracted by steam distilling from fresh or partially dried leaves. The oil in its leaf is used as an essential oil vastly around the world today. Besides that, it can also be used as Eucalyptol in mouth washes and cold remedies.
But hold on, because its wholesomeness doesn’t just stop there. Just like its leaves, this tree is just as useful in terms of its wood. In Australia its wood, ironbark, is greatly used for paper making, buildings, fencing, and even fuel!
According to Webmd, a few of the more common things it can help with are:
- Bad Breath
- Head Lice
- Bleeding Gums
- Stuffy Nose
- Toe Nail Fungus
And let me tell you, those are undoubtedly just the tip of the iceberg.
For all its magnificent uses though, the best way to dive into this whole new ‘Eucalyptic’ world and to attain its full benefits, is by diffusing its essence oils into your lives and homes.
